Tilisha's Story
For two years, I endured the pain and fear of domestic violence at the hands of someone I once loved. What appeared to be a relationship quickly turned into a cycle of abuse that left lasting scars. When he drank, his anger turned violent. I suffered beatings that resulted in a blackened eye, a fractured nose, and physical and emotional wounds that took far longer to heal.
The abuse extended beyond physical harm. Following each attack, I was subjected to sexual assault disguised as “makeup sex.” His cruelty also included humiliating acts, such as pouring soda on my head and threatening to throw bleach on me. Each moment was a reminder of the danger I faced, and the reality that my life was at risk.
One night, I found the courage to escape. In the stillness of the night, I left and drove aimlessly until daybreak. By morning, I arrived at my aunt’s home, finally stepping into safety. That decision marked the beginning of my journey to freedom, healing, and rediscovering my worth.
Today, I share my experience not as a victim, but as a survivHER. My story represents resilience, faith, and the unshakable belief that freedom is possible. SurvivHER Society was born from this journey — to create a safe space for women to heal, grow, and thrive. My mission is to remind every woman facing abuse that she is not alone, she is worthy of love without harm, and she has the strength to survive and rebuild.
